Opening Hours

The practice is open between the hours of 8.00am - 6.00pm Monday through to Friday.

We operate an appointments system for both doctor and nurse clinics. Please telephone if you wish to book an appointment. Routine appointment scheduling varies on a day to day basis. 

If you require to be seen the same day you will either be offered an appointment by a receptionist to be seen that day or, if appropriate, you will be put through to the duty doctor and he/she will arrange to see you later the same day.

Routine appointments are listed below. It should be noted that if a doctor is on Duty, or Housecall duty, then their routine times will not be available that day.

RESULTS The Healthcare Support Workers will telephone you at an arranged time to inform you of your results. These allotted times are usually in an afternoon between 1pm and 3pm. If results show any changes are required to your medication, the Healthcare Support Worker who gives out the results shall under Doctor's instructions advise you to either:- Make appointment to see your usual Doctor Phone the Doctor Or alter your medication and make a review appointment with the Doctor or Practice Nurse

NOTICE TO PATIENTS Due to the previously advertised work carried out to our computer server in February, we have experienced problems which were unfortunately outwith our control.  A complaint has been lodged with our clinical system provider. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. During this disruptive time we have made no attempt to dissuade patients from continuing to contact us and have persevered despite difficult circumstances to provide as acceptable and practicable a quality of service as was possible. We thank you for your patience and co-operation.

ANNOUNCEMENT As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, we are pleased to announce that as of 21st May 2008, we will be introducing a new routine Commuter Surgery which will be held every Wednesday from 6.00-7.45pm, and which will be by appointment only. These extended opening times have been made in an effort to meet the needs of patients who travel to and from work. We ask of patients who can visit the surgery during normal working hours to respect that these evening Commuter Surgeries are catering for patients who cannot, and to continue to visit during the day as before.

Announcement We are also delighted to announce that, with effect from 19th May, Dr Julie Hutchison will be joining the practice. We are very much looking forward to welcoming her to our team at Biggar Medical Practice and working with her.

GP AND STAFF TRAINING - AFTERNOON CLOSURES IN 2008/2009 The health centre will be closed from 1.00pm on the following afternoons. Any prescriptions should therefore be collected before 1.00pm on these days.
